DIY Decorating Tips for Fall

DIY Decorating Tips for Fall
Fall

Fall is officially here and with the change in season, it’s a great time to change up the décor in your home. But, a total overhaul of your look can cost you a lot. So, Leewood Renaissance at Franklin has come up with a list of a few DIY decorating ideas that can get you in the mood for fall.

A major staple of the Autumn season are pumpkins, but why settle for a standard orange one when you can easily spice it up a bit? All you need is a pumpkin, which you can pick up from your local grocery store or farm, some paint brushes, and your favorite chalk paint. Before starting to paint, you may also want to sand your pumpkin a little bit with either just a piece of sandpaper or a sanding block – this helps the paint adhere to the surface better.
Once your pumpkin is prepped, just apply your chalk paint per the instructions on the can and you’ll have a beautifully distressed pumpkin to put out on a table or floor that will wow your visitors.

Candles are always a great way to decorate but there are a few ways you can take your candles from ordinary to extraordinary for fall. Stop by any craft store and pick up some red, yellow and orange fake leaves, mod podge and a couple of mason jars.
Using a sponge, apply the mod podge to the mason jar and arrange the leaves in a custom pattern. To add some extra flair, tie some twine around the top of the jar. When you’re ready, put a candle into the mason jar and let the light shine through the leaves.

Two other favorite staples of fall are pinecones and acorns and with so many that you can find in your own backyard, they’re the perfect free decoration. Whether you use them to make a wreath, door hanger or fill a container to use as a centerpiece, these parts of nature are a great addition to your fall décor.

One of the best parts about owning a home is that it’s yours to do what you want with because you no longer have to abide by the restrictions of your landlord. From painting the walls and choosing carpet and tile down to every little decoration, you have the opportunity to make your Leewood Franklin home entirely your own.
